To Our Parents

The sports program at St. John Bosco is an integral part of the Parish community life and shares its basic tenets in common with the entire Parish community. Those principles include the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, moral and physical growth of each child. Within the context of organized sports, the program seeks to nurture those principles through the development of basic athletic skills, physical fitness, team play and good sportsmanship in a competitive athletic environment. The climate within which that development will best succeed must be characterized by fun for all participants. Such fun will come from an emphasis by all parents, coaches and administrators on the development of the child, both as an athlete and as an individual, while maintaining the proper pespective on both winning and losing. The true measure of success of this sports program will come in the personal growth of the individual athletes and the enjoyment they experience as they participate.

2011 Soccer Playoffs
Congratulations to the Bosco soccer teams making division playoffs in 2011.
Those two teams are the 7th grade boys team coached by Mike Sei and the 7th grade girls team, coached by John Hull.

Laclede Gas Goes for Gold

Have you noticed the new Bosco Gold uniforms sported by many of our soccer teams this fall? We were able to replace many of our worn-out uniforms, thanks in part to a generous donation from the Laclede Gas grant program. St. John Bosco Athletic Association met the requirements for the grant and received $500 from Laclede Gas towards our uniform replacement costs.

Who Said That?

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."
Michael Jordan
Chicago Bulls

"True champions aren't always the ones that win, but those with the most guts."

Do You Have The Time?

St. John Bosco relies on dedicated parents, volunteers who want to promote our mission of preparing their children to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values learned on the field. Volunteers serve in many capacities, from coaches, board members, team parents and concession duty. Many other roles are available, depending on your time, that are essential for the success of St. John Bosco sports.

A Good Read

Father Joe Classen, formerly assigned to Incarnate Word Parish, wrote this fascinating book about his life experiences in the outdoors. By spending time in the outdoors, we can be immersed in the beauty of God's creation. Read an excerpt to his book "Hunting for God and Fishing for the Lord" or click the book to see reviews.
